How To

How can you create a Quality Management Plan, (QMP)?

QMP (Quality Management Plan), introduced in ISO 9001,2008, provides a systematic method for improving processes, products, or services through continuous improvement. It emphasizes on how to continuously measure, analyze, control, and improve processes, product/service, and customer satisfaction.

QMP is a method that ensures good business performance. QMP is a standard method that improves the production process, service delivery, customer relationship, and overall business performance. QMPs should cover all three dimensions - Products, Processes, and Services. If the QMP focuses on one aspect, it is called "Process." QMP. The QMP that focuses on a Product/Service is called a "Product." QMP. QMP stands for Customer Relationships.

There are two key elements to implementing a QMP: Strategy and Scope. These elements can be defined as follows.

Scope is what the QMP covers and how long it will last. For example, if your organization wants to implement a QMP for six months, this scope will define the activities performed during the first six months.

Strategy: This is the description of the steps taken to achieve goals.

A typical QMP comprises five phases: Planning and Design, Development, Construction, Implementation, Maintenance. Each phase is described below:

Planning: In this stage the QMP's objectives and priorities are established. All stakeholders involved in the project are consulted to understand their requirements and expectations. After identifying the objectives, priorities and stakeholder involvement, it's time to develop the strategy for achieving the goals.

Design: During this stage, the design team develops the vision, mission, strategies, and tactics required for the successful implementation of the QMP. These strategies are executed by creating detailed plans.

Development: The development team is responsible for building the resources and capabilities necessary to implement the QMP effectively.

Implementation involves the actual implementation using the planned strategies.

Maintenance: Maintaining the QMP over time is an ongoing effort.

The QMP must also include several other items:

Participation by Stakeholders is essential for the QMP's continued success. They should be involved in planning, design, development and implementation of the QMP.

Project Initiation: It is essential to have a clear understanding about the problem and the solution before you can initiate a project. Also, the initiator should understand why they are doing it and what they expect.

Time Frame: It is important to consider the QMP's time frame. You can use a simplified version if you are only going to be using the QMP for short periods. However, if you have a long-term commitment, you may require more elaborate versions.

Cost Estimation: Cost estimation is another vital component of the QMP. Planning is not possible without knowing the amount of money you will spend. Therefore, cost estimation is essential before starting the QMP.

QMPs should not be considered a static document. It evolves as the company grows and changes. It should be reviewed regularly to ensure that it meets current needs.
